Consecration of the Hospital Church – Photo exhibition

On October, 23, a new orthodox church, built on the territory of the Yeysk Central District Hospital, was consecrated. Its construction was financed by the Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker Charitable Foundation. The church was built in honour of great Orthodox zealot St Luka Voino-Yasenetsky, who besides his ministry and devotion to the Orthodox Church, was a distinguished surgeon and scholar, known all over the world. The church built in his honour and his small monument set up near the church symbolize fundamentals of mercy and deliverance from sufferings of body and spirit, which are to guide medicine in its service to people.

Since 2004, the Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker Charitable Foundation has been fulfilling its activity in the south of Russia, in towns and stanitsas of Krasnodar Krai.

Programs of the Foundation, such as construction, re-construction and equipping of churches, installation of monuments to orthodox saints and remarkable people, publication of an orthodox newspaper, rendering financial support to educational institutions, organization of photo exhibitions, concerts of classic and pop music, chess master classes, etc., were carried out in Yeysk, Krasnodar, and Novorossiysk cities, Starominskaya, Nikolayevka, Pavlovskaya, Umanskaya, Uspenskaya, Shkurinskaya, Yekaterinovka, Oktyabrskaya villages and other settlements.

In September of 2011 the Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker Charitable Foundation started works on installation of iconostasis in the Archangel Michael Cathedral which is currently under construction. The project is carried out with the blessing of Bishop Daniil of Arkhangelsk and Kholmogory within programs of the Foundation aimed at helping the Russian Orthodox Church.

Sergey Moskalkov, a soloist of the Bolshoi Theatre, a soloist and art manager of the Russkaya Opera Theatre, expresses his view of the project participants’ singing.

The project is quite unusual for our TV: pop stars rehash classical arias. It aroused mixed feelings among operatic professionals. In general the jury approves of stars’ singing, and professionals who stayed out of the project only criticize them or just laugh.

From June 17^th to July 4^th, 2011, the delegation of the Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker Charitable Foundation voyaged the Siberian rivers Ob and Irtysh in the Mekhanik Kalashnikov steam-ship. The action was made within the frameworks of the Slavic Cross Procession program which has been implementing for 7 years under the direction and with the blessing of His Eminence Dimitry, the Archbishop of Tobolsk and Tyumen.

On March 13th, 2011, such a chess school was opened in the Peacock Orthodox children's home (Moscow). It became the 53^rd Anatoly Karpov chess school opened together with our Foundation.

On January 24^th-26^th, 2011, as a part of the XIX International Christmas Educational Readings, the Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker Charitable Foundation photo exhibition was held in the Hall of Church Councils of the Christ the Savior Cathedral. For two days, the Foundation photo exhibition that had served as a worthy addition to the Christmas Educational Readings, was looked over by over two thousand Moscow residents and visitors.

On October 30th, 2010, in the town of Nerehta House of Culture the concert dedicated to the Year of the Teacher was performed at the Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker Charitable Foundation support.

The list of the concert performers included the groups of the Nerehta Autograph Children Creativity Palace, the string ensemble directed by Valentina Novikova (Ivanovo), the soloist of the Moscow Russian Opera theatre, Sergey Moskal’kov (baritone), the soloist of the Galina Vishnevskaya Center of Opera Singing, winner of international competitions, soloist of the Russian Opera theatre, Alina Shakirova (soprano).

On November 4^th, 2010, the Foundation delegation of Nickolay Igorievich Goryachkin and Victor Vasilievich Ditkov congratulated the Archbishop Dimitry of Tobolsk and Tyumen on the occasion of the 20^th anniversary of the Bishop's Consecration and gave him as a gift the Savior bust of bronze with the Foundation inscription on it.

Reciprocating, His Eminence expressed the gratitude to the Foundation and gave it his blessing for further good deeds.

The Moscow Theological Academy's Jubilee Concert

On October 14th, 2010, the Moscow Theological Academy had the 325-year-jubilee, being the heiress of the Slavic Greek Latin Academy and the Russian Orthodox Church largest centre of theological education. The Saint Nicholas the Wonderworker Charitable Foundation presented the Academy with the concert that was performed on October 18th, in the Ekaterininsky Hall at the Academy’s Tzar Chambers.
